Knowing Your Markets, and How To Post!!

(In these two screenshots this is the same poster and they made about 5 pages of each item)

In this post I want to discuss “How to Post Your Auctions.” First things first like always we want to run a scan of the auction house like we always do. How to do a scan is covered in an older post I made about Using Trade Goods For Profit!! Also be sure to check out the comment section where Kammler from Kammler's Korner made a few good points about scans. And also covering how to set up your “auto bid” and “auto buy.”

After your scan your ready to post your items at this point most players have Auctioneer or Auctionator if you’re unfamiliar on how to use them effectively check out Just My Two Copper: 22 Steps to Using Auctioneer Correctly. Very great how to guide also it gets you right into gold making from the start.

Now lets move on to the meat and potatoes of this post. What I want to cover is not flooding your market you’re in. When I say, “flooding the market” what does that mean? Flooding the market is basically taking all your (lets use Iron Bar) Iron Bar and selling it in the auction house at one time. Better example lets say you have 200 Iron Bars and post all of them signally. Now lets take a look at how that will affect your market.

Now if you post all 200 Iron Bars in stacks of 1 you’re saying “I’m dumping my stock.” Which this is bad in few ways one you could have made a mistake and not known that and priced it for less than what you wanted. And then you get someone that flips the bars for profit and buys all your bars and resells and makes a profit off you. But that’s what we want to sell the item right? Yes and no. Yes we want to sell it, but no we don’t want to sell at a loss of profit, and have someone make a profit off of you. So the lesson here is make sure to double check your prices before you press post.

The other way selling 200 Iron Bars can affect your market is. Lets say someone comes behind you to sell there bars and sees you have 2 pages of Iron selling individually, so they follow your trend and dump all of theirs which they have 60 Bars. So not only did they undercut you 60 times they just dropped the price of the item. And then someone else does the same thing by posting all their items individually and drops the price and undercuts you. So do you see the pattern here that is taking place? We don’t want to sell all of our items at one time its Supply And Demand (another great post from JMTC). Basically you want to give the impression that there is not that much supplies so the players will buy at the price your making. Now I’m not saying buy everything out and post at outrageous prices because that won’t work you will just end up losing gold.

So when your posting there is nothing wrong with posting 5-7 single items, but then also post a few in stacks of 3 and stacks of 5 and 10. And pay attention what is selling if you notice the stacks of 5 selling faster than the other stacks. Then post more of the stacks of 5 and less of the others. You will find that you will make more gold this way and end up saving more in the end.

What Was My Defining Moment?

What Was My Defining Moment?

This post has been written for Cold's Blogging Carnival. MARCH 11th Topic: What Was Your Defining Moment?

Well to answer this question I will have to put my “thinking cap” on. I will have to rewind back in my days in vanilla WoW. I first found World of Warcraft when I was playing another MMORpg when a few friends of mine said hey we found this new game you have to check it out. So I downloaded the free 10-day trial and was hooked from day one.

As I was leveling my Hunter that I still play and use today we reached the first goal in WoW. To get to level 40 and buy our first mount. Now it wasn’t only our first goal it was a first gold hurdle. When I first started playing I didn’t realize the mounts would be so expensive plus with the level 40-skill training there was it was very expensive and I didn’t have enough gold for both and for that matter didn’t have enough gold for just the mount and riding skill. So at this time I changed my professions to Skinning and Mining, which meant I had to start all over in the areas I already completed to get skill up to where I was now.

I soon realized that this was going to take forever to do. So I stopped doing the skinning and mining. So I was at lose for what to do to make gold. I asked all my guild mates what they did to get gold. Most said farm this or that, which I didn’t understand at the time. Others said stand in Stormwind and beg. One said to pick up a gathering profession and a crafting profession to go with it.

So that’s what I did I chose to do Blacksmithing and Mining not realizing that blacksmithing is one of the hardest skills to level up. I was excited off to level it I went and to be able to make my own mail armor and weapons. I thought I was going to take my server by storm. Then one day I was in Stormwind and see players flooding in and out of this building.  I whispered a few players running in and out and ask what that was they were doing in there. They all said, “It’s the auction house of course!”

My response was “THE AUCTION HOUSE…WHERE YOU CAN BUY AND SELL ITEMS?”  The player responds, “Yes silly, what else would you do there?” At this point it was like heavens opened up and a ray of light was shining down around the Auction house, with the song Hallelujah (fast tempo) was playing. This is the best news I heard my long road of being broke came to an end.

So I ran inside and started looking I seen stuff on there that I was just selling to the vendors that were selling for more than what I was selling it to the vendor for. I was like you have got to be kidding me I could have made a tons of gold and have whatever I wanted. So I started selling everything I got from questing and just running around. After talking to a few more guild mates they suggested that I pick up skinning and mining again and sell my ore/bars and skins on the auction house.
And I started selling and even buying items. I didn’t really get in the gold game to play wow to make gold till these past few months. I have quit WoW a few diffent times and have came back and tried diffent things to keep me interested and stay playing. This time my main focus is trying to see how much gold I can make. While still being able to enjoy the other aspects of the game and not have to worry about being able to afford items. I think this time around is a much better experience than the others I had. I think the gold game offers the players something different. Plus for the heardcore Auction house pvpers that make spreadsheets it helps them to think outside the box.

So my answer is a little incomplete so let me clear it up. My defining moment was when I first started to play WoW and didn’t have gold for training and items I need to progress through the game faster and better. But I really got into the gold making hardcore these past few months. Which I have to say if it wasn’t for all these blogs out there I probaly be still broke and running around not doing much of anything. I even might have had to pimp myself out by dancing on the mailbox to make money… Hope I don’t have to go there….again!!!

The Booty Bay Account

Well recently I was in Booty Bay in the southern tip of Stranglethorn Vale. I was looking at the vendors there and realized there are some very cheap items that sell for a nice chunk of change in the Auction Hall. There is a different assortment of goodies that you can grab, everything from  cooking recipes, blacksmithing patterns, and green weapons that can be resold via auction hall or even disenchanted and the enchanting mats sold. There are even a few companions that you can sell for a decent amount of gold. At the cooking vendor you can also pick up some mild spices and some simple flour and list them in the auction hall. If you look to the LEFT at the screenshots these are some of the items that you can buy. As a reminder make sure you click the next tab to check out all the items.

Using Trade Goods For Profit!!

Here is a different way to make gold especially if you don’t have very much to start out with. This method also works well even if you have a ton of gold.

So the first thing we need to do is run to there nearest Auction House. If your using auctioneer or auctionatior please run a get all scan before moving on. To do a get all scan click on the scan button on the bottom of your Auction house window. Then you going to click on trade goods, and then search.
