Using Trade Goods For Profit!!

Here is a different way to make gold especially if you don’t have very much to start out with. This method also works well even if you have a ton of gold.

So the first thing we need to do is run to there nearest Auction House. If your using auctioneer or auctionatior please run a get all scan before moving on. To do a get all scan click on the scan button on the bottom of your Auction house window. Then you going to click on trade goods, and then search.

You will see this kind of confusing so here is what we need to do. Your going to click the price column until you get it shows you buy total like this. You want the cheapest listed first. Also the next coloum to the right, click that so the lowest perecentage is at the top.

Here is what we are looking you see a lot of items that are really cheap bid and cheap buyouts.  Yes I know what you’re thinking if they’re so cheap why do I want to buy themTo flip of course!

Now what we need to do is go thru all this jumbled mess and see what there is cheap that sells well. This is where The Undermine Journal comes in great or Auctioneer comes in great.

So we just scroll thru and see what we have. Here you see that there is silk cloth x4 selling for 10 silver. Wow I mouse of it and my auctioneer tells me it sells for 1g 25s wow that’s a huge profit that’s 1g 15s profit. And that’s only one item.

Yes I know again what you’re thinking luckily I got my crystal ball out today. But Xander silk doesn’t sell that good on my server. Good I am glad someone brought that up. When you are looking at the items make sure you have some knowledge of the markets before you just buy things out or bid. And I am glad you’re thinking and not running to the auction house buying all the silk cloth and reposting that would be bad.

Moving on, now depending on how much gold you have to invest if your not worried about making a few silver profit then you can skip over the ones that will net 10-80 silver profit but if your new to the auction house or don’t have much gold starting out playing a new toon then I highly recommend you picking up these items. Best thing to do is if you see a lot of items selling in stacks of one buy them up and resell in groups of 5. You will make more of a profit this way as well. Then when your all done going thru all the pages and are content run to the mailbox collect your items and repost to the ah.

One thing I do want to cover real quick is when your looking at the items and sometimes you will see someone selling xxxx for 50g buyout and you see that there is a 15s bid. DEPENDING ON THE ITEM ( for example light feathers, rep items, people trying to resell vendor items.) I would bid because you never know you could win it and be able to flip and have huge profits. Worst case you get your bid back in the mailbox. Again make sure you know the market of what you’re bidding on.

Does anyone else use this method? What do you do to make cheap gold quick?

Flipping is a great way to start out in the AH. I made my first 25k gold doing nothing more than flipping trade goods.

A couple points that may help refine your strategy:

1) Be sure to do at least 3 (preferably 5) get all scans over 3-4 days. The data is only as good as what is available at that time. Ekg, if someone listed a stack of wool cloth at 400g, that data will pollute your output and make all the wool below that amount show as a super buy. You may get fooled into buying a bunch at 20g per stack when the actual value is only 14g per stack--and you then have a bunch of inventory that you can't sell except for a loss.

2) Rather than doing a scan of all Trade Goods, do separate searches under each category, and then buy what you plan to buy in that category only. Then move to the next one. This will help keep the output manageable and also help you group similar items.

3) Instead of searching by cheapest first sort by % of value, the last column. Even better, sort by name (the first column) then by % (the last column). Like Excel it will sort according to both criteria. You can see all the Abyss Crystals together so you can see what the yellow and red prices are as well as the blue.

4) Before you buy anything click to the next page. Sometimes the sorting makes items appear on two pages instead of just one. You may find on page 1 that you are buying a bunch of Rugged Leather at 80s each--a good deal--then flip the page and see a bunch more listed at 60s. If you spent a bunch of gold on page 1 you may not have enough left to buy the cheaper ones on p2.

5) Under the "configure" button, set up your auto buy and auto bid. You can set what amount you want to have as a cap. Say that is 10g for each. Now when you look at the items to buy in your search, if you double click on an auction it will bid for you (up to 10g you set). Or you can hold 'shift' and right click to buy out any auction (again, up to 10g). Its a lot faster than the Blizz confirmation popup that you get every time.

Nice post, keep it up.

Hey Kammler thanks for the extended comment love it all your points are fine points i failed to put in to make sure that you have a few scans over a few days..but i was assuming that it has been done for awhile which i should have said also that is a good idea doing each catagory is a great way but i dont do that way anymore as its far too time consuming for me so i do it all at once. And i should have put in number 5 on your list its great i shouldnt assume everyone is advanced users lol but again thanks again for the comment love it keep them coming please
